The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) debuted on Y&R on May 15, 1978. He’s the second-longest tenured cast member on the show, with Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) having debuted during the show’s inaugural year in 1973.

Davidson’s career in the business began in 1977, when he played Collin in the movie Fraternity Row. He then appeared in the television movie, The Initiation of Sarah in 1978, which was the year he debut as Paul on Y&R.
Davidson met Cindy Fisher on the set of Y&R. She was cast to play Rebecca in 1980, and later played Dana in 1987. She’s appeared in many noteworthy TV shows in the 1970’s and 1980’s and was also in a 1990 Tom Petty video. Davidson and Fisher married in 1984 and have two children.
Along with his role on one of daytime’s most iconic soap operas, Davidson appeared in a number of movies and television shows. He’s currently cast to be in an upcoming movie, Season of Rage.

Paul dated Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott) during both actor’s early years on the show. Nikki had Paul’s, Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), but Paul didn’t learn that information until decades later.
Paul’s father was Carl Williams (Brett Hadley), who worked for the Genoa City Police Department. Mary Williams (Carolyn Conwell) was Paul’s mother. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom, active church member, and fierce defender of her other three children, Todd Williams (Corbin Bersen, who was the real life son of Jeanne Cooper, Katherine Chancellor), who is a priest, Steven Williams (David Winn), who was last seen in the early 1980’s, and Patty Williams (as last played by Stacy Haiduk), who’s lived a life that’s the polar opposite of Paul.
April Stevens (as last played by Rebecca Staab) was Paul’s first wife and the mother of his daughter, Heather Stevens (as last played by Jennifer Landon). Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) was his next wife, followed by Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell), who he’s currently remarried to. Paul also wed Isabella Brana (Eva Longoria), who is the infamous mother of his late son, Ricky Williams (Peter Porte).
Davidson, who earned a Daytime Emmy Award in 2013, as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, was most recently seen introducing a classic episode of Y&R during the production shutdown.
