Jordan Peele is an American actor, director, producer, singer, comedian, and writer. He is best known for co-writing and starring in the comedy movie Keanu (2016) also starring Keegan-Michael Key, Method Man, Tiffany Haddish, and Will Forte. He also wrote and directed a horror movie Get Out (2017), which was nominated in multiple categories but won an Oscar for “Best Original Screenplay,” making Jordan the 1st African-American to succeed in doing so.

He was raised by a single mother, Lucinda. Since she had pale white skin and blue eyes, people often asked her whether she was babysitting Jordan or if she adopted him.

In March 1994, he phoned an ABC News special that had President Bill Clinton as a guest. Jordan asked him if and how he can help families where moms take care of kids while dad won’t or isn’t able to pay child support.

In 2006, he appeared in a viral music video for a song by “Weird Al” Yankovic titled White & Nerdy.

The name of the production company he founded in 2012, Monkeypaw Productions, was inspired by the name of the 1902 horror story, The Monkey’s Paw.

After they met and collaborated on the TV series Mad TV, he and the actor Keegan-Michael Key became close friends. Between 2012 ad 2015, they starred in a sketch comedy TV series that aired on Comedy Central simply titled Key & Peele.

In 2014, TIME magazine named him and Keegan-Michael one of “100 Most Influential People in the World.” In May 2017, Jordan was again given the same honor, only this time he had a homage penned by his friend, a director, and writer, Barry Jenkins.

Allegedly, one of the reasons Jordan stopped acting and became a director was because he was offered the role of Poop in The Emoji Movie (2017) by Sony Pictures Animation Inc.

For his debut movie Get Out (2017) as a director, he won the Oscar award for Best Original Screenplay. He was also nominated in the categories of Best Director and Best Picture for the same film.
