Is Adele Vegan?

Publish date: 2024-06-19

Adele has now undergone a huge body transformation, which was revealed in her thirty-second birthday photo recently posted to her Instagram. With so many people resorting to a vegan diet for weight loss, has Adele done the same?

No, Adele is not vegan, well she has never confirmed that she is in any interviews. In 2011, Adele did confirm that she was vegetarian and no longer ate meat, but has never been confirmed to be vegan. However, the diet that Adele reportedly followed for her massive weight loss, The Sirtfood Diet, is a vegan diet.

You can read more about Adele’s eating habits, as well as her weight transformation below.

Adele Goes Vegetarian

As mentioned above, Adele went vegetarian back in 2011. This was the first time she had confirmed her diet in an interview. She told BBC Radio 1 that “Whenever I am about to eat meat, I always see my little dog’s eyes.”

Adele’s Massive Weight Loss

Adele revealed a massive weight loss transformation when she made this post to her Instagram account on May 5, 2020, her birthday. In the post she didn’t mention anything about her diet or weight loss. Instead she said “Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time. I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels ♥️ 2020 okay bye thanks x.”

In another post to her Instagram account, she revealed her much slimmer face and said “I used to cry but now I sweat.”

People online went crazy for this new image of Adele. It was a huge contrast to the star who has always stood behind her larger figure. She has stood up to body shamers in the past, but has admitted that she does have some body image issues.

In a 2011 interview with Vogue magazine, she said “My life is full of drama and I won’t have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like. I don’t like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine.”

The Sirtfood Diet

With the diet that Adele reportedly used to lose all this weight, it seems she didn’t have to give up her wine. The plant-based Sirtfood Diet allows dieters to eat a bit of chocolate and drink red wine. Other foods allowed on this diet are dates, soy, coffee, arugula, kale, blueberries, celery, parsely, strawberries, turmeric, and the list goes on.

The Sirtfood Diet was created by a pharmacist, Aidan Goggins, and nutritionist, Glen Matten. The goal of the diet is to activate a gene in the body known as SIRT-1, which supposedly helps lower inflammation, increase metabolic rate, increase fat burn, and reduce appetite. If following the directions of the diet properly, you can lose seven pounds within the first seven days.

However, a lot of health experts have been very skeptical of this diet as there is limited research backing it. The trial tests and scientific evidence is based off of a tiny sample size of only 39 participants. Health experts also ask the question of whether it is a sustainable diet. The verdict: Most health experts don’t think so.

In this Women’s Health article published after consulting multiple experts, it was concluded “The approved foods in the Sirtfood Diet are low in calories and high in nutrients, which is great for weight loss. However, nutritionally speaking, this particular diet is restrictive, which may make it tough for some people to maintain.”

While it appears Adele’s massive weight loss was due to following a vegan diet, she herself has not admitted to being a vegan. However, she is an admitted vegetarian and committed to following a healthy lifestyle.
