After graduating college, he worked as a trainee in a software company but eventually decided to pursue a career in acting.

In 1986, Indrajith Sukumaran made his first film appearance as a child artist in the Malayalam-language thriller film Padayani.

He brought to life the character of Pious George a.k.a. PG in the 2006 Malayalam-language coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film Classmates.

In 2007, he was cast as Manas (Sajani’s brother) in the Indian-British period drama film Before the Rains.

Indrajith Sukumaran made his first Hindi-language film appearance as an Investigation Officer in the 2010 thriller film The Waiting Room. He co-starred in the film alongside Raj Singh Chaudhary, Radhika Apte, Sandeep Kulkarni, and Prateeksha Lonkar.

Alongside Fahadh Faasil, Swathi Reddy, and Kalabhavan Mani, Indrajith Sukumaran co-starred as Father Vincent Vattolli/St. George in the 2013 Malayalam-language satirical musical comedy film Amen. For this performance, he won the TTK Prestige-Vanitha Film Award in the “Best Supporting Actor” category.

As a voice actor, Indrajith has worked on several movies such as Zachariyaude Garbhinikal, Amen, Nayakan, Ezra, Nee Kho Njaa Cha, and Janaki.
